Egadi Islands: Casale due Palme

Image 4 This is a large two-floor traditional tuff-bricks farmhouse with four apartments. Three of which ("Casa Favignana", "Casa Levanzo" and "Casa Marettimo" - are located on the first floor, while the fourth one ("La Torre - Egadi’s Tower”) is on the top floor. Ancient stables, not any more in use, are located on the ground floor and can be visited.

All four apartments are designed in the old Sicilian farmhouses style. A number of large windows allow great views and pleasant ventilation. The apartments vary in sizes and can accommodate from two to four people. A crib can be provided upon request. All apartments are fully furnished and self contained (with a few original antiques in some apartments). On the ground floor a large shared courtyard for the parking of bicycles, scooters and cars is also available.

A former residence of a prestigious noble Favignana casale due palme terrazzo 1Sicilian lineage, the Casale is located in the centre of the island, 200 meters (250 yards) from the white sands of Lido Burrone beach, and one kilometre (two thirds of a mile) from the island’s village. Its ideal location will allow you to easily reach some of the most charming beaches in the island (Lido Burrone, Cala Azzurra, Cala Rossa, Calamoni). Its wide terraces overlook wheat fields, olive, pine and mulberry trees, a multitude of colourful Mediterranean plants and, of course, the sea! From the terraces you can also enjoy the view of the other Egadi Islands and of Mount Santa Caterina with its majestic old castle.

At Casale Due Palme you will also be able to explore an ancient irrigation system, which extracts water from an old artesian well, gathers it in a large tuff-bricks pool (“gebbia”) and spreads it around the surrounding fields through a tuff-bricks network of water channels.

doggiornoThe Casale is a perfect starting point to explore the numerous island tracks, reach all the most scenic spots, soak in the local traditions and history while relaxing with a book or sipping a drink on the terrace.
